A terra cotta (oven-fired clay) plaque showing St. Jerome, the translator of the Latin translation of the Bible (the Vulgate) and the patron saint of Biblical scholars and translators. This plaque is found in the crypt of St. Jerome, under the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where Jerome spent much of his life.
