Nail cross - The nails that were used to crucify Jesus were no doubt something like this. Old, rusty, and used many times to bring pain and death to many at the hands of the Roman empire. These nails are about 7 to 9 inches long and half an inch in diameter. We see the cross in many forms today resembling something beautiful like a piece of art, yet the cross was nothing but beautiful. It was rustic, bloodied, filled with splinters and designed to intimidate and bring pain and death.
